Re: Help Needed
Gamble and lose. After pulling the glove compartment lock and having a key made for it, the key does not unlock the trunk. Short on time but will try more forcing it and lubing it. So far it looks like I wasted $96 having a key made for the globe box. I WAS trying to go counterclockwise to unlock de...

Re: Build Record
Something that may help, over on the 1959 Imperial Shutterfly account extensive work has been done to decode he 59 trim tag. I would suspect some of the code terms may be still the same as 56..

Re: Help Needed
Big help!!! I had sorta visualized something like your photo shows for holding the lock into the door. I am confused as to the location of the oval hole and the round hole. Good to see that your door does not agree with the service manual either. I am guessing the photo you took is of the retainer i...

Re: Help Needed
Wow that is most helpful!! I would have not figured that out even with a key! To turn 360 degrees to lock or unlock is indeed strange! I have the glove compartment lock at a locksmith making a key that will fit the trunk, should work. I have another question, in case you have a door apart. The servi...

Re: Help Needed
Right to lock, left to unlock seems to be some sort of standard and is used on most driver doors, except for the ignition switch. My problem is not knowing if it is locked or not I have no way of knowing which way to turn it with a lock picker. Hard to believe no one has access to a camera and a 56!...

Re: Help Needed
With no one willing to help, I tried to pry it open with the button pushed, and no luck. I notice on the 1959 model the key slot is HORIZONTAL when in the unlocked position. I photo of an unlocked trunk button on a 1956 would be much appreciated.

Help Needed
If anyone has access to a 1956 I would appreciate some help. My newest one arrived with no keys and a trunk that seems stuck down. The key slot is VERTICAL and acts like it is unlocking but the lid does not budge. I THINK the rubber has stick it to the body and needs only some help. However I do not...
