does anybody know this '69?

Post by Imperial Aspirant »

At Gateway Classics:

https://www.gatewayclassiccars.com/ORD/ ... r-Imperial

I'm semi-interested, at least. That paint (and particularly the striping) is not factory, but it doesn't look bad.

The car has clearly been around a while and even was in a YouTube before the dealer bought it:

Thought some of the brethren here might have some more info on it. Anybody?

I was in the area last year and stopped in to look at this car. Spent a little over an hour going over it, decided not to test drive it. It's not that any "one thing" was that bad, it was just too tired for the price at the time - the price has come down. I've trashed all my photos, but will check back up drives to recover them for you if you'd like.

Looks like it's sold - did you end up getting it?

Thanks for the info, Sluggo. No, Atom, I didn't get it, so I guess that one's out of the question, then.

There are not a lot of the fuselage bodies on the market, I find--they're really rare.

So the hunt continues!

For what it is worth: Gesswein motors in S.D. has a lot of Imperials, a handful of Fuselage are on the site and a Hemmings. I've spoken with him a few times, we just couldn't come to terms on two cars (my ability to commit $), he's cranky but very knowledgeable and sure seems to care about them.

Thanks for the tip, Sluggo. I had seen cars on various sites marked for the Gesswein auction, but didn't know anything about it. I've just been browsing their inventory. They do have some interesting stuff!

They have a whole section of their web page for classics here:
