WANTED: 1968 Imperial Crown Hardtop Sedan

Post by OldChargerGuy »

Seeking a 1968 Imperial Crown hardtop sedan:

In a perfect world, it will be dark green with a dark green vinyl top and black leather interior, just like the one in which I learned to drive in 1975-76. However, any dark color will be considered, and non-leather interiors as well. I prefer a completed car, not a project; but some repair work would be expected. I have a lot a practice detailing and waxing a '68 Imperial; it will be garage-kept and receive meticulous care.

My username could frighten some sellers who seek to preserve their Imperial. No worries, I am not looking for a 440cid engine or an A727 transmission. I highly esteem antique original cars and antique cars restored to original condition. My '66 Charger is an original survivor, and my '68 Charger is being restored to original condition; I don't want either one to be modified. No, I desire a 1968 Imperial Crown hardtop sedan to honor my mother who patiently taught me to drive in her '68 Imperial. When I get one, the license plate shall read RITAMARY in her honor.

You see, besides raising nine daughters and six sons (that's one father and one mother), she provided nursing care for our father following a crippling accident at the family's business in 1974. She learned to operate the family business herself, her sons repairing cars and pumping gas to keep the lights on and food on the table. The older daughters helped care for the younger children and the housekeeping. She pulled it off. We made it through those difficult years, despite the fire of 1975 and the flood of 1980. Quiet, resilient, self-sacrificing and faithful. I have no problem understanding why her generation is called the Greatest Generation.
