Is it the same as the 1966 model radio?

I thought ‘64 was one year only and ‘65/6 were the same but I could be mistaken. Maybe the faceplate is ‘65 only?

1964 is one-year only, and the AM and AM-FM radios each require a different face plate.

1965 is one-year only, and the AM and AM-FM radios each require a different face plate.

1965 and 1966 AM radios are identical.

The 1966 AM radio and the AM/FM radio use the SAME face plate.

A 1966 AM-FM radio will fit into a '65 with the AM face plate, but not the AM-FM face plate.

Great info, I have a pile of Imp radios so this is very helpful. Thank you Charles. I will refrain from posting any similar radios for sale until this one is sold.

The first Imperial AM/FM radio, 1964, was a GM product made by Delco-Remy. Chrysler Corporation hitherto obtained their radios from Bendix or Motorola, but did not consider Bendix or Motorola products "good enough" for the '64 Imperial's AM/FM radio. These Delco-Remy radios have proven to be very reliable over the decades.

Then, Chrysler Corporation switched back to Bendix for the 1965 AM/FM radio, which proved to have high failure rates and poor reliability, with problems manifesting soon after the 1965 models were released.

That precipitated a return to Delco-Remy AM/FM radios for the 1966 Imperials, which have also proven to be very reliable.
