Gauge cluster on a '91

I've heard these things are tricky maintenance issues.

Here's a pretty example, at a good price, with a totally dead cluster. Can this kind of thing be fixed? Could you maybe use an analog one?

I hear the Auto level system can be a pain. People convert them to the Dynasty/New Yorker set up.
