Sludge removal

Hi--I was recently given a 1955 Imperial that has been sitting in the Mojave Desert for many years. The engine turns over, and it has spark. I have drained the old oil, however the engine has A LOT of sludge in the pan and in the oil filter housing, so I don't want to start it up quite yet for fear of having clogged oil passages. Any recommendations for removing the sludge from the engine before starting it? Thanks!
