1965 Cruise Control Knob install

Post by Dan »

I needed to take my ignition switch out. This meant removing the control knobs for the rear blower and the cruise control.

I was fortunate that the 3 components that make up the cruise control knob did not have their set screws tight. Now that I see the set up, I would like to hear from those who have managed to get them back on and the set screw tightened up. My main concerns are:
1. the bushing like part that goes on first. I considering the shape of the cut out for the panel that goes on to cover everything, I can't see how an allen wrench would fit in the space.
2. the center knob that is recessed into the main knob. The shaft it sits on is spring loaded so that the knob when on, the allen screw is inside the main knob.

So, any experience in putting this back together would be appreciated.
