I think it may be time to consider some fresh rubber for the 66 Imp. The tires on there are over 10 years old. They still ride fine and I don't have issue with them, but when getting this old I just get worried when doing freeway speeds.
Any luck with a certain tire brand for wide whitewalls? Never bought a set of wide whitewalls before, so if there's something special I should look for, please let me know - have plenty of experience buying standard tires.

I owned the green coupe briefly last year(flipped it but miss it, it was stunning!)((don’t need 2 ‘67 coupes)).
I’m thinking of a similar size whitewall for my Impvertible. Trying to remember the brand.

Cooper Trendsetter 235/75/15 Whitewall .Price is 62.99 at my NTB Store, Probably 5/8" Whitewall width. and they are American. For a wider Whitewall try Coker Tires. At this point I will not put Asian Tires on my Cars.

Any idea what the stock tire style is for a 66? Looking at brochure pictures, it appears to be either a dual or triple stripe whitewall style. I don't know if I need a stripe pattern.
Think 5/8" whitewall would look good on a 66 or think it should be at least 1" ?

1966 Imperials came from the factory with a triple-ring whitewalls. A wider ring was in between two thinner ones. I personally prefer the 1.625" whitewall like those on the green '67 coupe. My '64 has 1" whitewalls, which closely approximate what a 1964 came with.
Variations on the triple-ring whitewalls were used on 1965 and 1966 Cadillacs, and on 1970 standard Lincoln Continentals. Coker can make these for you, at a price...

I took this picture (not my car) at Chryslers @ Carlisle a few years ago, This may be the Factory style that Crown64 mentions. I think Diamondback tires could make these .Coker probably bought them out by now.

Thanks. I doubt I'll spend the extra money on custom tires like that and stick with something under 200/tire. Nice to know what it should have though.

Last year I put on some Cooper Trendsetter 235/75/15 whitewall tires and I'm happy with them. The whitewall is 3/4" wide. The main reason I went with these tires is that the sidewall is smooth, unlike the other alternative Hankook Optimo H724.

FWIW I use Hankook Optimo H 724 tires on my 66 Imperial and my 64 Caddy, and am very happy with them (235 75R 15). The whites are not as wide as would be period correct but they balance VERY well, and that's my primary concern; NO VIBRATION.
