Anco original wiper blades

Post by Weitzracing_369 »

Hi, I have a set of anco wiper arms/blades on my 64’ imperial, they are the 18” “wing” style stainless. I need to replace the wiper blade refills and was thinking of using a set of refills from new wipers but they are narrower than the vintage anco style and afraid they won’t fit snug. Have any of you been through this or have any suggestions, know where to locate the vintage size

I sure have! For my 59 the arms are for a wider blade spline that is currently available. I did some careful measuring and found I can carefully squeeze the fingers on the arm slightly to grasp the narrow blades. Then remove the blades from the Anco arm and you are better than new! I will gather a post and photos and post later.
This link should get you all the data and instructions:

Thanks, that was a good thing ImperialAtom. I guess I should have cautioned, this is for 1959 models and of course a few others, I do not know exactly what years used the narrow spline blades. If you ignore this guidance, and install the narrow blades, durin the next rain storm you will lose your blade and then scratch your windshield with the arm. That tends to ruin your whole day

Before I took “charge” of a 62 Imperial, a previous delinquent scratched the window as you describe. Is there a way to polish it out??

I have seen some people have good luck with this if the scratch is not deep. Also seen polishing where it will make the glass like new if there's just very minor wear on the glass.

Several videos here on the topic: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... +scratches

take it to a auto glass store and ask them . i think they use what is called pol mes and water and that takes out scratches and polishes it .

Thank you for all the great information. Exactly, the last thing I was is to lose a blade and scratch my windshield
