64 convertible and 55 Coupe Not mine

Post by coco »

Posting this up for a 75 yr old guy who is selling a collection of cars, one of which I was interested in and wanted to help him out reaching a wider audience. I have no idea the worth of the cars but he has them all garaged and they seem well looked after. The location is VA and his email is oscar.oldsmobile@gmail.com

Described as follows

The 64 convertible is listed in # 3 condition as $42,700 in the Old Cars Price Guide. I have advertised it for $35,000 but am totally negotiable on that. The car has full power equipment and AC. It is white with a black top and white leather interior and has 60K miles. It has a new steering box. Runs and drives well.

His friend/neighbour is selling a 55 Imperial Coupe which needs some fixing up but looks pretty good, he did not know a price or mileage but had a couple of pics so adding this in if it suits somebody else. Love the interior !

David seems a lovely genuine guy so hope his cars go to good homes.

Wow both look great! Love the seats on the 55; wish there were more pics of those.

Far outside my price league but I'm sure they'll get continued good care wherever they end up

Welcome to the forum!

I wouldn't say your price guide is wrong, but I personal would stop using it.

Here's the prices from 2018 Collector Car Price Guide:
Type654321
1955 Imperial (2 door):$1,240$3,720$6,200$13,950$21,700$31,000
1964 Imperial Crown Conv:$1,840$5,520$9,200$20,700$32,000$46,000

And here's the prices from Hagerty's valuation tool. Keep in mind, these are insurance valuations. (sometimes they are inflated):
TypeFair #4Good #3Excellent #2Concours #1
1955 Imperial (2 door):$17,600$35,300$57,200$83,700
1964 Imperial Crown Conv:$11,300$19,700$31,700$53,300

I just yesterday had a friend with a ‘64 vert that told me he turned down a 35k offer on his strong #3 condition Imp.

I stand corrected then. I had no idea they were going for that much. Usually Hagerty is pretty good with prices, but maybe they are not up to date on Imps.

Here's the 74 LeBaron prices from the 2020 book. I checked and they have not changed since the 2018 book, so who knows how long it's been since they updated this.
Type654321
1974 Imperial LeBaron:$232$696$1,160$2,610$4,060$5,800
Those prices don't seem correct to me, seems extremely low, I wouldn't trust the book on that.

That does seem low. Interesting though how the older years shot way up. Maybe there were a few sales that drove up the prices for those

My 66 did not change from 2018 to 2020 either, and it still seems low as well. Guess I have to buy the 2022 book now. :)
