63 Crown 4dr Hardtop History?

Post by JonCody »

Hi, does anyone have any info on the following car? There is an Imperial Owner’s Club sticker in the back window, and I’ve found info on several sites about the car over the years, but would like to know more. I’m concerned because the vin comes up as a LeBaron, but it’s clearly a Crown. Does anyone know this car? Thank you in advance!

I’m considering buying it as it’s for sale near me here in WI. Don’t think I mentioned that. Thank you!

Sounds like a VIN swap was performed with the interior swap.

Yeah, it may have been a vin swap, or it could have been a restoration where someone only had Crown parts available.

Maybe, but it has the Custom/Crown's back window. And it has Crown badges on the quarters. You wouldn't put Crown badges on a LeBaron during a restoration, and certainly wouldn't change out a section of the roof.

Thank you for your input. The tag swap is a red flag, I don't want to be the one to have to explain it someday should I buy it now. I'm going to pass on the car, which is a bummer because it would have looked nice next to our 57 Custom!
