That's impressive. It must have been a perfect frame-off restoration or something. They just typically never see that sort of money, so something must have been very special about that car. Looks very nice!

Nothing special at all! I noticed an aftermarket AC compressor, incorrect decals on valve covers, horn button partly rotted off, Le Baron hubcaps on a Crown etc. Very little was done to keep it original.
It was suggested by another Imperial owner that it may have had an $80k reserve, and the auctioneers "ghost bid" it up to reserve, meaning that does not represent value but one person with $80k that wanted one! Buyers do not have a lot of choice when looking for a 59.
Since I will be selling a couple of them before long, of course it was feeding a happy fantasy of mine
